About
This BMI calculator applies the standard WHO formula (weight ÷ height²) and displays both WHO global thresholds and the lower Asia-Pacific thresholds recommended for East Asian body compositions. A color-coded result bar and reference table make it easy to interpret your result at a glance. Because everything runs client-side in your browser, your height and weight are never uploaded, stored on a server, or shared with anyone — your health data stays private.
How to use
- Select your preferred unit system — Metric (cm / kg) or Imperial (ft, in / lbs).
- Enter your height and weight in the input fields.
- Your BMI value and category (Underweight / Normal / Overweight / Obese) appear instantly.
- Check the color-coded bar to see where your BMI falls on the scale.
- Review the reference table for WHO global and Asia-Pacific thresholds side by side.
FAQ
- Is this BMI calculator free to use?
- Yes, completely free — no account, no subscription, no hidden fees. Just open the page and start calculating.
- Do you upload my height and weight to a server?
- No. All calculations happen entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your device and is never sent to any server.
- Does it work offline or without an internet connection?
- Yes. Once the page is loaded, the BMI calculator works fully offline — no internet connection required for calculations.
- What is the difference between WHO and Asia-Pacific BMI thresholds?
- The WHO global standard sets Overweight at BMI ≥ 25 and Obese at ≥ 30. The Asia-Pacific guideline (WHO 2004) uses lower cutoffs — Overweight ≥ 23 and Obese ≥ 27.5 — because East Asian populations tend to carry more body fat at the same BMI value.
- Can I calculate BMI in feet and pounds?
- Yes. Toggle to Imperial mode and enter your height in feet and inches and your weight in lbs — the tool converts automatically and applies the same BMI formula.
