About

This BMI calculator applies the standard WHO formula (weight ÷ height²) and displays both WHO global thresholds and the lower Asia-Pacific thresholds recommended for East Asian body compositions. A color-coded result bar and reference table make it easy to interpret your result at a glance. Because everything runs client-side in your browser, your height and weight are never uploaded, stored on a server, or shared with anyone — your health data stays private.

How to use

  1. Select your preferred unit system — Metric (cm / kg) or Imperial (ft, in / lbs).
  2. Enter your height and weight in the input fields.
  3. Your BMI value and category (Underweight / Normal / Overweight / Obese) appear instantly.
  4. Check the color-coded bar to see where your BMI falls on the scale.
  5. Review the reference table for WHO global and Asia-Pacific thresholds side by side.

FAQ

Is this BMI calculator free to use?
Yes, completely free — no account, no subscription, no hidden fees. Just open the page and start calculating.
Do you upload my height and weight to a server?
No. All calculations happen entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your device and is never sent to any server.
Does it work offline or without an internet connection?
Yes. Once the page is loaded, the BMI calculator works fully offline — no internet connection required for calculations.
What is the difference between WHO and Asia-Pacific BMI thresholds?
The WHO global standard sets Overweight at BMI ≥ 25 and Obese at ≥ 30. The Asia-Pacific guideline (WHO 2004) uses lower cutoffs — Overweight ≥ 23 and Obese ≥ 27.5 — because East Asian populations tend to carry more body fat at the same BMI value.
Can I calculate BMI in feet and pounds?
Yes. Toggle to Imperial mode and enter your height in feet and inches and your weight in lbs — the tool converts automatically and applies the same BMI formula.
