About
This tool covers three calculation modes. Basic mode computes the discounted price from an original price and a percentage off, optionally adding tax or VAT. Compare Prices mode works backwards — enter the original and sale price to find the exact discount percentage. Stacked Discounts mode lets you chain multiple sequential discounts (e.g., a 20% member coupon on top of a 30% sale) and shows the step-by-step breakdown so you can see the effective total saving. A quick-reference grid for common discount rates (5%–75%) lets you click any value to prefill the calculator instantly.
How to use
- Choose a mode — Basic (discount % off), Compare Prices (original vs. sale price), or Stacked (multiple sequential discounts).
- Enter the original price and your discount percentage (or sale price in Compare mode). Results update instantly as you type.
- Optionally add a Tax / VAT percentage to see the pre-tax price, tax amount, and final all-inclusive total.
- In Stacked mode, click '+ Add Discount' to chain extra percentage-off layers. The step-by-step breakdown shows the price after each discount.
- Click any card in the 'Common Discounts at a Glance' section to instantly prefill that discount rate into the Basic calculator.

- How do I calculate stacked or cumulative discounts (e.g., 30% off then an extra 20% coupon)?
- Switch to Stacked mode, enter the original price, then add each discount layer one by one. The tool applies them sequentially — 30% off a $100 item gives $70, then 20% off $70 gives $56 — and shows the cumulative effective discount percentage.
- Can I figure out what percentage off a sale price is compared to the original?
- Yes — use Compare Prices mode. Enter the original price and the sale price, and the tool instantly calculates the discount percentage, amount saved, and final price including any tax you add.
