About
Net Promoter Score (NPS) is calculated by subtracting the percentage of detractors (scores 0–6) from the percentage of promoters (scores 9–10). Respondents who give a 7 or 8 are passives and do not affect the score. The result ranges from −100 to +100. This calculator accepts any plain-text list of responses separated by commas, spaces, newlines, tabs, or semicolons. Non-numeric values and numbers outside 0–10 are silently ignored, so you can paste raw survey exports without cleaning them first. All computation runs in your browser — no data is sent anywhere.
How to use
- Collect your survey responses — any question asking respondents to rate on a 0–10 scale.
- Paste the responses into the input box — commas, spaces, newlines, tabs, or semicolons all work as separators.
- The calculator instantly shows your NPS and splits respondents into promoters (9–10), passives (7–8), and detractors (0–6) with counts and percentages.
- Read the visual bar to see the share of each group at a glance, then use the NPS value to benchmark against industry averages.
FAQ
- What is Net Promoter Score?
- NPS measures customer or employee loyalty. Respondents scoring 9–10 are promoters, 7–8 are passives, and 0–6 are detractors. NPS = % promoters − % detractors, giving a value from −100 to +100.
- What counts as a good NPS?
- Generally, above 0 is positive, above 50 is excellent, and above 70 is world-class. Benchmarks vary widely by industry — compare against your own sector for meaningful context.
- What happens to invalid or out-of-range values?
- Non-numeric text, decimals, and numbers outside 0–10 are silently ignored. Only integers from 0 to 10 are counted, so you can paste raw CSV or spreadsheet data without pre-cleaning.
- Is my survey data sent to any server?
- No. All calculation happens in your browser with JavaScript. Your responses never leave your device, making this safe for confidential customer or employee data.
- Do passives affect the NPS?
- Passives (scores 7–8) do not directly contribute to the NPS formula, but they dilute the percentages of promoters and detractors because the denominator is total respondents. A higher passive count can therefore lower the absolute NPS.
