💼 Korean Severance Pay Calculator (퇴직금)
Enter your join date (입사일), leave date (퇴사일), and total pay over the last 3 months to estimate your statutory severance pay (퇴직금). The tool computes your average daily wage (평균임금) — including 3/12 of any annual bonus and leave allowance — and applies the legal formula. Free, runs entirely in your browser, and works offline.
Inputs
Severance applies after 1+ year of continuous service. Average daily wage includes 3/12 of the annual bonus and leave allowance. If you enter a daily ordinary wage that is higher than the average wage, the law uses the ordinary wage instead. Estimate only — pre-tax.
Private by design. This tool runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored, and it works offline.
About
Korean statutory severance pay is calculated as: 1-day average wage × 30 days × (total service days ÷ 365). The average daily wage (평균임금) uses total pay for the 3 months before leaving, plus 3/12 of the annual bonus and unused-leave allowance, divided by the calendar days in that 3-month period. Severance applies only after at least one continuous year of service. If the ordinary wage (통상임금) is higher than the average wage, the ordinary wage is used instead — this tool uses the average wage, so verify with your employer for edge cases. All calculations run client-side, so your figures never leave your device.

FAQ
- How is Korean severance pay calculated?
- Statutory severance = 1-day average wage × 30 × (total service days ÷ 365). The average daily wage is the total pay for the last 3 months (plus 3/12 of annual bonus and leave allowance) divided by the calendar days in that period.
- Do I get severance for less than one year of work?
- No. Statutory severance pay applies only after at least one continuous year of service (365+ days). Under one year, no legal severance is due.
- Is the estimate exact, and is tax included?
- It is a pre-tax estimate. Retirement income tax (퇴직소득세) is withheld separately using service-year deductions and is usually much lower than regular income tax. Company-specific pay structures and ordinary-wage rules can also change the figure — confirm with your employer.
- Is my salary data uploaded anywhere?
- No. Everything runs in your browser; your inputs are saved only in local storage for convenience and are never sent to any server.
